The case of LENR in how it was announced (at a press conference) and the process of its rejection by mainstream science within about a year, is a very interesting topic for investigation in the field of the sociology of science. So also is LENR‘s continued rejection for nearly 30 years despite its clear potential benefits as a clean source of energy along with the ever-increasing body of evidence for its existence. Furthermore, the persistent interest in LENR research by numerous investigators in many countries is difficult to understand when compared to other rejected claims, such as N-rays and polywater. The phenomenon of LENR investigations as “undead science“ has been well described in Simon’s book by that name1.
